Dew Tour Open Qualifier and Rained Out Prelims

Dew Tour Open Qualifiers went down late last night in Baltimore, MD. Things got pushed back due to wind, but the wind just kept going through the night, so the riders just handled it and rode. The last rider was done after 1AM and, after the dust settled, etnies riders Todd Potter and Japanese import Taka (Takayuki Higashino) made it through the open qualifier! Derek Garland didn't quite make the cut with all the tough competition, but he will be back in Cleveland to give it another try.

In case you were wondering, Twitch and Jim McNeil are pre-qualified, so they didn't have to deal with the OQ. Prelims were supposed to happen today, but wind and rain put that off until tomorrow if the course drys out. Hopefully it does!

We added some photos to the Dew Tour photo gallery that you should check out. Also, if you're going to attend the Baltimore Dew Tour, or any Dew Tour stops for that matter, you can take your own photos and share them with everyone on etniesmotox.com!
How can this be possible? It's easy. Get a Flickr account and tag your photos with ASTDEWTOUR and we'll handle the rest... or follow these easy steps...

Leaving the Right Soleprint

For Immediate Release – June 12, 2007

Lake Forest, Calif. – Driven by his vision and spirit for a company successful on the balance sheet, the streets, the slopes, the ocean and ultimately on our amazing planet, Pierre Andre Senizergues embodies the genuine qualities as a true leader by revolutionizing the future of action sports and the way Sole Technology does business. For his environmental endeavors, Senizergues was honored on June 9 at the 11th Annual Global Green USA and Green Cross International Millennium Awards as this year’s recipient of the Corporate Environmental Leadership Award. As CEO and founder of Sole Technology, parent company to top action sports brands etnies, éS, Emerica, Altamont and ThirtyTwo, Senizergues has set a positive example for his peers in business and media by greening his company and speaking out about the need to take action to protect the environment and leaving the right footprint, or in Pierre’s case, soleprint.

In 2002, under the leadership of Senizergues, Sole Technology began making changes to protect the environment in their business practices. Recently, Sole Technology added to its list the conversion to waterless urinals at its headquarters to promote water conservation. Saving up to 250,000 gallons of water each year, that’s equivalent to approximately an Olympic size swimming pool, three million cups of coffee, and what matters most to the action sports industry, two and a half million bottles of beer.

In addition to Senizergues’ vision and full commitment to corporate responsibility other initiatives include the installation of 616 solar panels, the conversion to water-based cement manufacturing, company-wide recycling efforts, the addition of the first-ever environmental affairs manager and the launch of a sustainable footwear and apparel collection, the etnies SEED Project. Senizergues has also recently teamed up with Leonardo Dicaprio and Tree Media as executive producer for the upcoming and highly-anticipated documentary, THE 11th HOUR, set to open in theaters in fall 2007. Senizergues supports the film in hopes to create awareness and discussion around the issues we are facing and the environmental movement to motivate people to reduce the size of footprint they leave behind on our planet and for future generations.

Global Green USA was founded by former president Mikhail Gorbachev and serves as a national environmental organization addressing and creating a new approach to solving the world's most pressing environmental challenges by reconnecting humanity to the environment. Senizergues’ name is added to a prestigious list of past Millennium Award recipients like Leonardo DiCaprio, Ted Turner, Joan Bavaria, Paul Hawken, Gary Hirshberg, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Suzuki, Winona LaDuke, Ray Anderson, and many more outstanding leaders.

“I’m honored personally and professionally to recognize a leader like Pierre that understands the important connection between humankind and the environment,” says Matt Peterson, CEO of Global Green. “Global Green recognizes those unique leaders who embody our mission and are an inspiration to others.”

Known for pioneering technological advances in skateboard footwear, Pierre Andre Senizergues and Sole Technology have stayed true to its skateboarding roots while pushing the envelope as a corporate leader of sustainability in the industry and will continue its efforts in doing the right thing. Check out Pierre’s award presentation.

Grant Langston was on fire at Southwick over the weekend! Solid starts had Langston near the front at the start of each moto and he finished 3rd in moto 1, over 40 seconds in front of his next closest competitor! In moto 2 Langston picked up the pace big time! He got another solid start, and when Carmichael and Stewart started to check out from the rest of the pack like always, Langston was right there on their asses! Around lap 7 Langston made a pass on Stewart, something only Carmichael has been able to do for quite some time, and held on to 2nd place for a couple laps until Stewart got back by. After that GL stayed close but couldn't quite make another charge for 2nd place and settled for 3rd. Langston is now 3rd in the overall points, just in front of etnies teammate Timmy Ferry!

Ferry had some bad luck with bike problems in moto 1 and DNF'd. He came back strong in moto 2 and finished 4th right behind Langston.

Jason Lawrence

In the Lites class etnies riders Jason Lawrence and Josh Grant both rode really well. In moto 1 Josh Grant had a solid start and eventually finished in 4th. Lawrence didn't have such an easy time. In the second turn Lawrence was left picking up his bike while the pack blew by. But LAwrence remounted and charged from way back to finish the moto in 5th place! In moto 2 Lawrence and Grant traded spots, going 4th and 5th respectively, in the moto and overall for the day. Nicely done!

Check out highlights and interviews from Southwick on the Racer X show on Motocross.com.

A Baby Named etnie!?!!

Posted by: Brink | Friday, June 8, 2007

etkid

Got this email from a woman named Keeley Cruickshanks a few weeks ago! She named her daughter Etnie and sent us some pix!

I named my daughter Etnie, as my fiancé is a sponsored rider, not by etnies, but we both loved the word and thought it would make a good name for our baby girl who is now 9 months old. In Ireland it means "a saint" after Saint Etienne. "Etnie" is the female version. I am at the moment trying to get Etnie in to baby modeling so if u ever need a baby model for etnies clothing in catalogs or something just holla'. We would be more than happy to represent etnies clothing. Thanks!
