Brian Deegan - Ghost Rider

Posted by: Cropley | Wednesday, March 28, 2007

LA Coliseum Supercross

Flash back to 1997. The X Games were not even a thought, and Brian Deegan was racing 125 Supercross on Team Moto XXX as a privateer. It was the Los Angeles Supercross at the Coliseum and Deegan rode to his first (and only) win in the 125 class. Upon crossing the finish line, Deegan ghost rode his RM across for the win in the most punk rock maneuver in Supercross history!

I wasn't there, but I sure as hell wish I was to see that in person. EJ posted an old Cycle News article about the infamous ghost ride over at Alpinestars.com that will make you feel like you were there...good stuff and worth a read.

Tim Ferry Third at Indy!

Posted by: Cropley | Monday, March 26, 2007

Time Ferry

Grant Langston

Hell Yeah! Tim Ferry rode to his fourth podium finish of the season this weekend at the Indy Supercross!

Timmy is third in the overall points with only four rounds to go...and he keeps widening the now 36 point gap between him and Windham!!!

Since Grant Langston has been back on the bike and racing, he has been moving up in the results every week. His first week back he finished seventh, the next in sixth, and over the weekend he finished fourth! At this pace he could be on the podium in no time!

And in the Lites...Ryan Morais continues kicking ass! He came from around a ninth place start and battled through the pack to fourth place to extend his points lead! Morais is on a mission!

The event featured tattoo art, tattooed models, live tattooing and of course the highly anticipated etnies and etnies Girl Club Tattoo shoes that will be hitting stores in June.

etnies is rooted in skateboarding and self-expression, so collaborating with the like-minded artists at Club Tattoo allowed the brand to create a truly unique product for its consumers. Inspired by art, individuality and skateboarding, all of the shoes feature traditional tattoo artwork and are available in two vulcanized styles, the popular “Bernie” and “Fakie,” for both men and women.

etnies & Chester Bennington Launch the Club Tattoo Collaboration Series!

clubtattoo

etnies and etnies Girl are officially launching the Club Tattoo collaboration shoes for Fall 2007, with a little help from Linkin Park lead singer and Club Tattoo co-founder, Chester Bennington, this week.

“I’m really excited about the collaboration because it gives us a chance to blend our mutual passion for art, body and lifestyle in a unique way,” says Bennington. “etnies and Club Tattoo live what we do, love what we do and together we’ve created a perfect connection between body art and street style.”

Inspired by art, self-expression, individuality and skateboarding, all of the shoes feature traditional tattoo artwork and are available in two vulcanized styles, the etnies Bernie and Fakie, for both men and women. The shoes will be available in stores this June. Stay tuned to etnies.com for more exclusive news, info and surprises from etnies and Club Tattoo!

For Guys

Both men’s styles utilize traditional Japanese art and a variation on a dragon design. The Bernie (left above) integrates a Koi fish with a dragon which represents courage, luck and strength in Eastern culture. The Fakie (right above) continues the traditional Eastern art theme with a design that depicts an ancient perspective of a mythical creature that often protects and symbolizes strength.

For Girls

The women’s Bernie (pictured on the left) has a rose design which is derived from a passion for femininity. A common choice for representing a diverse attitude regarding integrating body art into lifestyle, the art is traditional in nature, with a modern flair. The women’s Fakie (on the right) features a dove which symbolizes peace and tranquility. It is a very traditional tattoo art design with an updated twist.

Vote for Miss Supercross!

Posted by: Cropley | Tuesday, March 20, 2007

Miss Supercross

Get over to the Supercross web site and vote for your choice of Miss Supercross 2008! There is plenty of eye candy over there to enjoy while making your choice.

Let it be known, etnies is putting its support behind Miss San Francisco, Crystal L.--she's hot, plus she left us a MySpace comment asking for our vote, and so far that's more effort than any of the other ladies have put forth. So, Vote 4 Miss SF.

But remember ladies, the etnies Moto endorsement can be manipulated quite easily by sharing some nice, new photos with the many etniesmotox.com readers! Let us know.

Morais Second at Orlando Supercross!

Posted by: Cropley | Monday, March 19, 2007

Ryan Morais

Ryan Sipes injured

Orlando was a crazy one, what with Carmichael's last ever Supercross of an amazing career, and the red-flag action that went down in the 250F race, leading to long-shot Branden Jesseman taking the win! etnies' Ryan Morais kept up his consistent ways to finish second and open up his Lites class points lead! Billy Laninovich finished in fifth after running up front for most of the race. Nicely done!

Unfortunately Ryan Sipes wasn't so lucky. In the opening laps of the red-flagged first 250F start, Sipes got tangled up in the crash with Goerke and Dungey and ended up breaking his tib in his right leg...so that'll be at least 4 weeks out for him.

In other "breaking" news, Travis Preston crashed hard on the first lap during the Dayton Supercross and dislocated his shoulder. He may need surgery, but we'll let ya know...let's hope for a quick recovery.

Timmy Ferry rode to a consistent fifth place finish after charging hard from the back of the pack. He and also widened his third-place points lead in the 450 overall points to 17!
Grant Langston was right behind Timmy in sixth place...

20 Boards + 20 Artists = 1 Fight!

20 ARTISTS, 20 BOARDS, 1 FIGHT

VANCOUVER, BC. February 14, 2007 -- 20 local artists and a skateboard manufacturer have teamed-up to create an inspiring art exhibition of 20 hand-painted boards that commemorate the Push For The Cure skaters and continues their honorable fight against breast cancer.

Last summer, Canadians were moved by Push for the Cure: the story of four young men, skateboarding a record-breaking 7,000 km across Canada to raise funds and awareness for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Push for the Cure rider, Rob Lewis summarized: “We are not doing this because someone we know has been diagnosed; we’re doing it because someone we know will be.” Rob and fellow riders Aaron Jackson, Benjamin Jordan and Carlos Koppen were joined by hundreds of Vancouver area skaters on the final 3-day stretch from Hope to Stanley Park in October 2006.

For this latest fundraising event, local board manufacturer, RAYNE, has donated 20 unique skateboards to be assigned to a local artist. The boards will be painted for an art exhibit and silent auction at the Library Square Public House (330 W Georgia St @ Hamilton) on Thursday, March 8th, at 9pm. Proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, BC/Yukon Chapter.

Morais and Goerke on Podium!

Posted by: Cropley | Monday, March 5, 2007

Congrats to etnies YoT riders Ryan Morais and Matt Goerke for placing second and third over the weekend at the St. Louis Supercross! Ryan and Matt are now tied for first overall in the East Coast season points.

etnies blog image

etnies blog image

In the 450F's Tim Ferry got a solid start but got hit by the #9 bike of Ivan Tedesco, who cartwheeled right in front of Timmy on the opening lap. Timmy mush have been pretty dazed from the hit 'cause he got up and tried to get on Tedesco's Suzuki before he realized it was the wrong color! When Tim got going again (on his own bike) he was way back and only managed to finish 17th.... Tim is still third place in the overall 450F points.
