NASCAR Mulisha Demo Video & more...

Posted by: Cropley | Monday, February 26, 2007

Check this cut & paste video I made from the Mulisha NASCAR demos over the weekend at the California Speedway. It was Potter, Ox and Fluffer on hand for Friday's show, and Potter, Ox, Twitch and Deegan riding Saturday and Sunday.

There's a Deegan interview at the end of the video...

On Sunday Potter broke his bar clamp bolt on his Honda upon landing a little low on the ramp, and he somehow pulled it off without falling. No biggy. Potter just borrowed Twitch's YZ, made a couple runs at the ramp, started hitting the jump and after a couple jumps was throwing all his tricks!

Who the hell just jumps on someone else's bike, let alone a different brand (Yamaha), and hits a ramp-to-ramp! Nutty!

etnies bouncer

Hangin' out in Laguna Beach last weekend and some altercations went down between drunk people. Road cones got thrown at cars, bouncers got crazed, cops arrived, and I snapped a photo of this dude with an etnies shirt while the police lights blazed. Oh, the drama!

Todd Potter air to fakie

Check out TransWorld for a bad-ass video from Twitch's new house. Twitch's interview is cool, the riding is good, too...but about half way through, Todd Potter does one of the sickest things on a dirt bike in a while... rolls up a wall, airs out a little bit, rolls out fakie and pops it back around BMX style! Sick!

You gotta check it.

Houston Supercross!

Houston was yet another solid showing for the etnies guys. Timmy Ferry was on the podium for the second week in a row and Jason Lawrence and Josh Grant took second and third place respectively in the 250F class!

Ferry grabbed the holeshot in the main and battled up front with Kevin Windham, while Timmy's Kawasaki teammate James Stewart and Yamaha's Chad Reed both started a little ways back. Stewart and Reed eventually made their way past Ferry and Windham, which left a battle for the final podium spot between the two.

Ferry was in fourth with only a couple laps to go and gaining ground on Windham. With mounting pressure from Ferry, Windham made a mistake out of a corner, hit a tuft block and Ferry moved into third place for his second straight podium appearance! Nice!

In the 250F class Jason Lawrence got a great start while Villopoto got the holeshot...the battle was on! J-Law made an aggressive move on Villopoto early on for the lead, but Villo soon got him back with hard pass. About five lasp in Villopoto got tangled up with a lapped rider and went down, handing Lawrence a solid lead. But Lawrence stopped riding as aggressively once out front and eventually Villopoto caught up and passed him for the win. Josh Grant was in the mix some of the time and finished in third, even said himself that he rode too conservatively to run with Villopoto and Lawrence.

Racer X has an interview with J-Law up...you should check it out.

Ferry, Grant and Lawrence on the Podium!

Posted by: Cropley | Monday, February 5, 2007

Tim Ferry

Tim Ferry

A HUGE congratulations to etnies riders Tim Ferry, Josh Grant and Jason Lawrence for kicking ass this weekend in Anaheim! Three out of six guys on the podium rock etnies! Nice!

Ferry got his first Supercross podium in, well, he doesn't even know how long! It's been a while. Officially it's his second podium this season since Wey was DQ'd for fuel at Anaheim 2 and Ferry's fourth place finish was bumped up to third...but this weekend it was legit. Solid starts all night and riding super consistent did the trick for ol' Red Dog, and you can count on some more for sure!

Check out Timmy's post-race interview at Racer X.

The Lites class was going nuts! A red flag on lap one of the 250F main, caused by Sobe/Samsung's Jake Weimer crashing, lead to the restart. With a busted chin and blood all over the place, Jake toughed it out, made it to the restart and ended up finishing sixth in the main...way to salvage those points! Jake is still third overall in the 250F West points!

Jake Weimer

Josh Grant got a solid start (on both of them) and quickly moved into second place behind Villopoto. That's basically how it went for the rest of the race for Grant...he put his head down for 15 laps and brought her home for his third podium in a row!

Jason Lawrence also made his third podium appearance of the year--each one for the home crowd in Anaheim... A1, A2 & A3! But it didn't come easy for him. While the restart was great for Jake Weimer, it wasn't so great for Lawrence. Lawrence was in second place on the first lap, right on the tail of Hansen with Villopoto buried mid-pack, until it was red flagged. It could well have been J-Law's first dub'ya, but it wasn't in the cards.

On the restart Jason was the one with the mid-pack start and had to battle his way through the pack, past guys like Hansen, Gosselaar and Davalos, for third place--his third Anaheim podium and what I like to call, the "Anaheim hat trick!" It has nothing to do this stupid ducks either.

Jason Lawrence

Snapple Fact: Only Stewart, Reed, Villopoto and Jason Lawrence pulled off the "Anaheim hat trick" this year...

etnies & Pepper Contest!

Posted by: Brink | Friday, February 2, 2007
pepper

Kona, Hawaii's favorite sons make their long-awaited Atlantic/East West Records debut with their fourth studio album, No Shame. It's a bold artistic leap forward for the Island-born-and-bred, California-based trio. No Shame defines what Pepper is all about.

"No Shame is different from the other albums we've done because we had so much artistic freedom," says singer-guitarist Kaleo Wassman. "We had plenty of room to explore the range of possibilities of the band, which was so much fun to do."

With the band's trademark penchant for the musically unpredictable firmly in place, No Shame is indeed a tasty and rewarding blend of styles and sounds unlike anything Pepper has recorded before. The 18-track collection, which was recorded over the better part of a year, in a variety of SoCal studios with no less than 4 producers, is triumphant culmination of months of hard work that began on the road in the summer of 2005.

To celebrate the release of No Shame, etnies and Pepper are teaming up to give you some free goodies. Fill out the form for your chance to win a free pair of etnies, a Pepper CD and a Pepper T-shirt! Good luck!
