Garland 2nd at IFMA!

Posted by: Cropley | Wednesday, January 24, 2007

Derek Garland sent in an update about what he's been up to...

Last weekend I rode an IFMA event in Rio Rancho NM. Friday night I placed 2nd and Saturday I won the team contest. The venue sold out both nights and it was a lot of fun. I caught a flight home early Sunday morning and did a demo at Irvine Subaru with Fluffer and Ox. It was really windy but we still pulled off a few tricks. It was a fun and busy weekend and everything went well.

Derek was getting it flat the other day at the Rock Quarry down the street from the etnies office, so I stopped by and snapped some pics...

Anaheim II Supercross

Posted by: Cropley | Tuesday, January 23, 2007
Tim Ferry Supercross

Anaheim 2 was this weekend and it was the first race that RC purposely didn't race in his farewell season. Kinda weird, actually. But RC's absence did open up a spot on the podium if you count on JS and CR being 1st and 2nd.

Many thought it would be either Tim Ferry or Travis Preston...no doubt a good bet. Unfortunately Travis Preston would miss the race after a nasty practice crash early in the day that landed him a night in the hospital with chest injuries. Travis should be back for the San Francisco Supercross this weekend battling for a podium spot!

Tim Ferry didn't get the best of starts, but he picked his way through the pack and settled in for a fourth place finish. With very consistent results thus far, Ferry sits in third place for the overall AMA points!

Check out the New Desktop Wallpapers with Travis Preston and Timmy Ferry!

Jason Lawrence Supercross

In the 250F class, Boost Mobile YoT's Jason Lawrence stole the show!...almost. He may not have won, but coming from a mediocre start and passing guys like Boniface, Josh Grant and Josh Hill for second place was pretty damn impressive! J-Law sits in second place overall in the season standings!

Josh Grant hasn't started off the '07 season as he had hoped. With a practice crash at A1 keeping him out of the night show and a couple crashes during the Phoenix main event resulting in a DNF, Anaheim 2 was the place to get things back on track. Josh finished a solid fourth, but I'm pretty sure he's not too stoked on fourth. Look for Josh to be battling up front next weekend in San Fran.

Sobe/Samsung's Jake Weimer followed up his fifth place performance and A1 with a sixth at A2...seventh in overall standings... 5+6+7=18... what does that have to do with anything? I don't know.

Make sure to check out the New Wallpapers from A2 featuring J-Law, J-Grant, J-Weim and, umm, K-Cunn? (Kyle Cunningham).

Josh Grant Jersey Winner!

Posted by: Cropley | Wednesday, January 17, 2007
Josh Grant Jersey

Congrats to Derek Egbert from Provo, Utah for winning a Free No Fear jersey autographed by Josh Grant and a pair of etnies!

You may be wondering why you didn't hear about this contest? There is a really good reason... because it was top-secret! Well, kinda.

If you've seen the etnies ads in your favorite moto mag lately, you may have noticed the "web code" on them. If you take that web code and type it in at the top of the site, it will take you to something totally sweet. It could be a video, photos, a dancing elf, video games, 1 zillion pesos, hot babes or even a contest to win free junk!

Derek entered and won...you could too! But I think he's just lucky... the guy also won a pair of goggles last week from supercrosslive.com! I wish I had Derek's luck in Vegas!

Congrats. Your shoes and jersey are on the way.

Twitch's Video Shoot

Posted by: Cropley | Thursday, January 11, 2007

Twitch

On Tuesday I headed out to the mountains above Magic Mountain to check out the filming of Twitch's new video. Potter and Garland were out there, too, along with Faisst, Ox, Fluffer, Buyten, Morrison, Manley, Trittler, Fitzpatrick and some others.

Todd Potter

Potter's been working on the Windham-style whips and it looks to me like he's got 'em down pretty damn good!

Twitch Step Up

I was there for day 1 of the 2 days and it was pretty damn windy. But the wind didn't stop Twitch, Potter and Colin from hitting the huge-ass step up...4th pinned! More photos in the photo gallery!

Known for smoking the competition under the cover of darkness in Baja, the best night rider in the world, Steve Hengeveld, brought his skills out to the Best in the Desert Parker 250 last weekend in Parker, AZ, winning the race with teammate Mikey Childress.

Henge started the race and held the lead, making plenty of dust for the guys behind, up to to the half way point where he handed it off to Childress, who stayed out front and took it home for the WIN! Congrats!

Sent in by a thoughtful and loyal fan with her own Sheckler website, Kari, this pinball game has some etnies logo action goin' on! We had nothing to do with it, but pretty random, huh? Is pinball the next "extreme" sport?

A1 (Not the Steak Sauce)

Tim Ferry

It’s nice to finally get the first round of Supercross under our belt and outa the way. Travis Preston and Timmy Ferry killed it in the SX main event and took fourth and fifth place respectively behind the top three of JS, RC and CR. Hell yeah! Grant Langston, who qualified for the main in second behind Carmichael, was running really well in the main, but had a crash and DNF’d it. Damn.

In the Lites, new Yamaha of Troy recruit Jason Lawrence made a huge debut by finishing on the podium in third place! Jake Weimer of team Sobe/Samsung turned some heads with his new number (73) and a solid top five finish! Congrats!

But missing from the results is Josh Grant. What happened to Josh? Well, a gnarly practice crash bruised his lung and left him struggling to breathe. Josh toughed it out and qualified second place in his heat race, but could hardly breathe on the last lap. He and the team decided he should see a doc and decided to stay on the safe side and not ride the main event. Look for Josh to be back for Phoenix and kicking ass!

It's finally here -- the start of the AMA Supercross season is this Saturday! Try to make it out to the Big A if you're in So Cal. If not you better be glued to the boob-tube and watching it all LIVE on SPEED Channel beginning at 10:00pm EST/ 7:00pm PST on Saturday, January 6.

I always suggest playing the etnies Braap Braap game during commercial breaks while making braap braap sounds of your own.
