SLAYER Rocks Metal Mulisha!
Posted by: Cropley | Wednesday, July 26, 2006After Trigger's jump in Oklahoma over the weekend I flew straight into Vegas to see Slayer at the Orleans on Monday night. Slayer kicks ass!!! A huge thanks goes out to Lindsay from Amp'd Mobile for the tequila shots and hooking up the all-access best pass everrrr!!! Thanks! (Amp'd has every stop of the Unholy Alliance Tour LIVE on all Amp'd phones...)
I got a ton of sick photos and after getting them on the computer I noticed a Metal Mulisha sticker on Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman's guitar... how sick is that!
Trigger Comes up a Little Short
Posted by: Cropley | Tuesday, July 25, 2006
- Check how he landed on the top deck... a few more feet and he woulda landed butter.

- ZOOMM in
Over the weekend we headed out to Miami, Oklahoma (they pronounce it "Miama" out there) to see Trigger Gumm attempt to break his own distance jumping world record of 277.5 feet, and break the unofficial, but well-known, 310 foot jump by Ryan Capes. The plan was for Trigg to jump around 315 feet or maybe more.
In the days leading up to the event Trigger was practicing and feeling really comfortable jumping as far as 270 feet. The show came around and Trigg started out at about 240’ and did a few practice jumps while increasing the ramp gap about 10-15 feet each time. His final jump before the world record attempt was taped off at 273 feet, 11 inches, which was a new 450cc world record and only a few feet short of the outright distance record of 277.

- Trigg's wife Erin, Seth and Ox makin sure he is alright
The next attempt is the one you’ve seen video of on CNN and countless local newscasts and websites… the jump that went wrong. They pulled back the ramp another 10 feet and Trigg made his run at the takeoff as he had done many times that day at over 80mph. Maybe it was the pressure of live TV, maybe a problem with the carburetor, or possibly the 10mph headwind out of the North... whatever it was, Trigg came up a little short. He went about 280 feet, landed on the top deck of the landing, bounced half way down and took a good ol’ Oklahoma soil sample.

- Before the crash the nurses were placing bets on weather or not they would meet Trigger... someone won a few bucks
Amazingly, Trigger was able to walk to a waiting ambulance under his own power and was transported to a local hospital for x-rays and observation over night. The x-rays showed a couple cracked vertebrae in his neck and back, but he should be fine with a little rest, some doctor prescribed "candy" and just taking it mellow for a little while. A mere mortal surely couldn’t take a crash like that and walk away, but Trigg is an animal and one tough dude. He will be back soon enough to conquer the world record just as he set out to do.
Here's to a speedy recovery, Trigg!
Some random stuff...
I had a 2GB CF card die on me, so I lost a ton of sweet photos! Freekin' sucks bad. But we should have a video of some sort in the next week or so, so check back for that.

- Lil' Mike and Roc
There was this midget dude hanging out, I think his name was little Mike?, and Trigger was going to jump the ramp with the midget on board for a doubles jumping world record! Holy shit that would have been funny! Maybe next time...
Seth Enslow came out to Oklahoma, too. He made sure Trigg was feeling comfortable, giving a little advise if needed and providing everyone with shots of Green Label Jack all week! Thanks Seth! Not to mention terrorizing the local bar scene and throwing multiple chicks in swimming pools... good times.
The rental car ride to the airport was crazy. Ox for sure has a black eye now, Fluffer got wet-willied so many times by Maddo its just gross, Maddo was asphalt surfing at 90mph out the door, and somehow we lost the side mirrior on a road cone... don't tell AVIS.

- Maybe a photoshop contest next time?
We have somewhat randomly and somewhat alphebetically (does that make sense?) posted a Photo Gallery with 200 photo entries–out of thousands we received–from the etnies/Racer X Photography Contest. If you don't see your photo in the gallery, don't worry, we plan on posting just about every photo in the photo gallery over the next week or so before the top 11 are announced and online judging starts.
A big thanks goes out to everyone who entered!!! Now do us a big favor and check out the Photo Gallery and see all the awesome photos everyone sent in!!!
Moto This Weekend...
Posted by: Cropley | Thursday, July 20, 2006
- Triggs jump should go something like this...but about 50ft farther!!!
First off, Trigger Gumm is going to break the World Long Distance Jump Record this weekend on Oklahoma at the Buffalo Run Casino!!! If you're in that area you have to come and check it out. He's planning on going 320+ feet!!!! Well over the length of a football field!!!! Trigger is a bad-ass, there is no doubt about it...nobody goes bigger than Trigger!
etnies will be there to bring you the full story with photos, video and anything else we can think of...so check back for updates!
Also this weekend is the Laguna Seca Moto GP race. Moto GP only comes to the US once a year and draws hundreds of thousands of people to watch live. Last year Nicky Hayden won his first ever Moto GP race in front of his home country fans; look for him to bring home a repeat win this weekend and widen his championship points lead over Valentino Rossi. It's gunna be good...watch live on SPEED TV!
etnies moto TM, Matt Chapman, will be up at Laguna hob-knobbing with the stars in the Red Bull VIP area all weekend (last year he saw Michael Jordan, a couple of the guys from the TV show "Friends", Brad Pitt and many others). Check back for some possible paparazzi movie star lurking photos, plus all the news from etnies riders/supporters, Jake Zemke and the Hayden Bros.
And don't you dare forget about the outdoor national this weekend in Lakewood, CO. Wey, Preston and Ferry are right in the mix in the 450F class, and the YoT guys have been killing it lately in the 250F class and are within striking distance of podium spots week in and week out. Check out the LIVE Webcast for all the action.
The Big Huckin' Chicken

* Not sure if it's a real world record??

Posted by: Cropley | Monday, July 10, 2006The guys at Transworld just posted a video from Beaumont earlier in the year that made me realize how much summer sucks, well, at least for freeriding the hills. Damn it, when is it going to rain so we can go braap braap the hills!?!?!
Look for Laninovich and Wey throwin' down in the video.
Jeremy Carter RIP
Posted by: Cropley | Monday, July 10, 2006Tragedy has struck the moto industry and the Carter family as Freestyle Moto rider Jeremy Carter drown on the 4th of July on a lake near his home in Coarsegold, CA. just up the mountain from Fresno near the entrance to Yosemite National park. This comes as a huge shock to all who knew him as he grew up in the lakes and rivers surrounding Yosemite and was a skilled water man.
After speaking with his longtime girl Misty today she said that there is no conclusive evidence of what happened to Jeremy. He is survived by Misty and his young son Jadyn and the many friends he made around the world while riding his dirt bike.
Jeremy found his way to an early jump show in Modesto, California where he tried out for the closed event and still found a way to become a competitor near his home in Central California. Jeremy went on to compete in events both here and in other countries and rode at the highest level of the sport while competing at the X Games. Jeremy later decided to take a break from competition and became a freestyle judge and full time demo rider. Many that knew Jeremy will tell you that he was never out for blood at events and it was a more appealing way of riding to do demos with your friends instead of competing against them.
The attached photos are from a recent trip that the San Clemente groms (OX, Fluffer, Garland and Bean) took with Trigger and I to see our buddy Jeremy, Grant Tiel, and the whole Trimble clan. Jeremy took us to ride near the gateway to Yosemite and all of the bike stuff is at that area and you can see Carter wearing his retro Honda gear, he was always a knucklehead.
Although Jeremy was doing backflips on the bike it was his 6 guns that we spent some time developing over the years, more as a joke between announcer and rider but it turned out to be his signature move.
God bless
Cameron
Jeremy has been on etnies and a big supporter since the begining of his career...he always rocked the the sick old etnies jerseys with his own unique style. Jeremy will be deeply missed. RIP
In memory of our good friend we made a little wallpaper of Carter doing what he loved to do...riding his dirt bike.
Check out this thread on FreestyleMTX for some more cool photos and memories.

Red Bud Results
Posted by: Cropley | Wednesday, July 5, 2006Tim Ferry is back in action and getting even better every weekend. He pulled off a sixth overall at Red Bud over the weekend and was even running in third for most of moto 2, only letting Reed and Windham by for fifth place. Congrats Timmy! Nick Wey and Travis Preston also rode quite well, keeping it in the top 10 just behind etnies teammate Tim Ferry.
Racer X caught up with Ferry for a cool interview...check it out.
In 250F action, Boost Mobile YoT's Andrew McFarlane rode to his second overall podium of the season in third place. McFarlane and his YoT teammate Brett Metcalfe are now tied for fifth place in the championship with 161 points. Josh Grant looked to be on his way to a win in moto 2 before he stalled and dropped back in the pack. Josh came back to finish in fifth...maybe next time.
Both Transworld and Racer X have some sweet wallpapers up from the races. Check 'em out.
