A.M. Beaumont Session

- ^Chocolate cake^
What did you do this morning? Crawl out of bed around 10am, hit up Mc D's for breakfast, stroll into class late and listen to the teacher bitch about how you need to be more responsible and do your homework? Actually, that sounds like a normal day in my life, but not today....
Working for etnies, you get some pretty cool perks...like riding on weekdays after it rains! So this morning, before most people even woke up, myself (editor dork), Derek Garland, Cameron Steele and Mark Moss of ArsenalMX, were unloaded and roosting around in perfect chocolate cake Beaumont dirt!
Garland was getting upside-down on a couple new hips, but I didn't get any actual riding shots, well, because who wants to take photos when you can ride! So these shots are just evidence of how sweet the dirt really was.
Sorry to rub it in, but it was sick!
Maybe round 2 tomorrow morning?! Who’s down?
Clotheslined!

Two In A Row For Grant
Posted by: Cropley | Monday, March 27, 2006Josh Grant won his second Supercross Lites main in a row last weekend in Detroit, which is his third win of the season. Josh got out front by lap two and cruised the remaining 13 laps for the win. By finishing in front of Millsaps, Josh still has a mathematical chance to win the Lites Championship. Congrats and good luck at the final next weekend in Houston.

Kickstarting The Weekend With Whitmore!
Posted by: Brink | Friday, March 24, 2006
- More Whitmore please!
Ok, so maybe this isn't skate, surf, BMX or snow related, but it is of high importance and no human being should go through the weekend without seeing it!
Sarah Whitmore is a Moto X rider for etnies Girl. From the looks of this photo from her interview in TransWorld MX last month, seems to be a pretty 'lil lady too. Like those star tattoos? So do we, but challenge her on a bike and stars are precisely what you'll end up seeing when she whoops your ass on the track.

Catching Up With Josh Grant
Posted by: Cropley | Wednesday, March 22, 2006Fresh off his big win last weekend in Orlando, etnies rider Josh Grant was back in Cali for a few days before heading out to Kevin Windham’s house to train and get ready for the Detroit Supercross this weekend. While in town Josh stopped by the etnies office to grab some product, hang out and sit down for a little interview. Check it....
What happened at the first Supercross this year?
I rode good, just got shitty results. Had a crash, got taken out in the main and worked my way up to like—I don’t know, I started like dead last or something like that—worked my way up to seventh and then crashed in the whoops and that kind of ended my night right there. Hit my chest pretty hard and, ya know, kinda shitty night.
And then the weekend after that was…
Atlanta
And you won there.
Came out with a W.
A dubbya, an uno, that’s perfect.
Ya it was good. I rode really good there…had some block passing going on with some people.
[laughs] Some people huh?
Yep. And just did what ever it took to win.
Yeah, that’s good. Not going out there to get second. And then after that was Indy.
Indy…had that one in the bag. I led all eleven laps and then a lapper fell in front or me on the triple, came up short…well no, it was like a rhythm section—a double-triple-triple—and he was down at the bottom, I couldn’t see him, went over the jump and almost landed on him, then came up short and crashed on the triple. Held the clutch the whole time and didn’t even let go of the bike, kept it running and after that I just stayed in second. So that was kind of a sucky weekend, too…had that one won. Yeah, what was after that? Daytona?
Daytona, yeah, what happened at Daytona?
I rode good, just couldn’t go through whoops. Dude, they built this huge whoops section, like HUGE whoops, and I just struggled all night in them.
Where did you finish?
Second. Yeah, I’ve got a DNF, a first, a second, and a second and a first, so....
Gearin’ up for two more firsts!
[laughs] Yeah.
So, how was this past weekend?
This weekend was good! I felt good in practice, everything. I came in really strong, I just had that feeling that I knew I was going to win. It’s good when you go out first practice and you know it’s going to be a good night…and it was.
Have you guys started testing for outdoors yet?
I’m going to start testing after Houston.
Has anyone on your team been testing already?
I think Weimer and Laninovich have, that’s about it.
So then you just try out some of the stuff they have picked out?
Yeah, just see what they have come up with. It should be good, the bikes are really strong this year.
Do you think you still have a chance at the Championship after your DNF in St. Louis?
It just takes Davi to have one bad race. If he gets a DNF then I’m right there. Ya know, I need to win these next two races to have a chance, and if he has some bad motos it will throw me right back up there…I’m only 25 points behind. I think I should have won almost every race; the only one I got beat straight up was Daytona, every other race I should have won. I kinda showed that in these last results.
One race, man, it’s all it takes….
It screwed me.
Do you wish it was a longer season?
Oh yeah dude, this seven race thing—it’s not like the 250 class where they get, I don’t know how many, like sixteen races.
What do you think about Ricky’s fuel penalty getting overturned?
I think that kinda sucks, ya know. I mean, Kawi didn’t get it back, and Yamaha didn’t get it back, because he’s Ricky, well, he got it back. That kind of sucks for those guys. But it’s not my battle to fight.
Do you know if they are going to change that rule at all?
I don’t know.
This weekend you’re leaving tomorrow and going to Windham’s house?
K-Dub’s, yep.
Have you been out there a bunch riding with him?
I was just at his house last week and rode for a few days and then we both drove down to Orlando for this weekend. I’ve been there for about a week and I’m going back this week.
How do you like riding with him?
It’s crazy. The dude is nuts at his house. He’s got some crazy jumps, big rhythm sections, it’s fun. I have a good time when I’m out there.
When you ride with some of the 250 guys that have been around a long time do you think you learn stuff from them?
Riding with Kevin you definitely learn something. The guy has an amazing riding style and you can learn a lot from him. He shows me a lot, helps me out through the whoops and different techniques and stuff.
Do a lot of guys do that? Like help out the younger guys?
Not really, I mean there are a limited few that really do. And seeing as how Kevin is on our team it’s helped me out.
Have you done that with anyone? Maybe help out some amateurs?
Not really. My dad does usually. He wants to start a riding school. But I haven’t really done anything personally with anyone.
Did you ever do any schools when you were younger?
No.
What are some good National tracks to go watch at?
Budds Creek is a good one, and Red Bud.
Do you ever do any freestyle, like jumping ramps?
Oh yeah! It’s fun.
Where at?
I did it at Mike Jones’ house right next to Steel City and the ones at Castillo Ranch. Jumped some in Texas where Clayton Miller had some ramps. I've done it a bunch.
You ever screw around and practice doing some tricks?
Freekin’ Jones was trying to get me to do some lazy-boy somethin’! It was right before the race so I was like, “no, it’s alright.” But then I got hurt anyway!
Do you think you are a better outdoor rider or Supercross rider?
I’m starting to adapt better to the Supercross techniques and I think riding Supercross is going more towards my way or my favor.
Do you like it better?
Yeah. It’s clean, there are a lot of people, it’s more flashy…it’s cool. Outdoors is just wide open, hangin’ it out, and it’s long and hot. I like the ones where the main is at like 9pm, you go to bed at 2am and just wake up the next day at noon…fits my schedule. [laughs].
Thanks Josh.
Thanks guys.
On A Mission!
Posted by: Cropley | Tuesday, March 21, 2006Nick Wey was charging this weekend! With a good start in the main, Wey was in the top five after lap one behind Stewart, Carmichael, Tedesco and Byrne. Nick chased down Byrne and battled for position, eventually making the pass stick by lap 13 and setting his sights on Tedesco. With two laps to go the privateer MDK Honda of Wey got inside of the factory Suzuki of Tedesco and made a pass stick for third place!
Wey is currently in fifth place for the series overall points and just seven points back from Tedesco in fourth.
Josh Grant Takes Orlando
Posted by: Cropley | Tuesday, March 21, 2006Josh Grant smoked the competition this weekend in Orlando, Florida for his second Supercross Lites win of the season. He moved into the lead by lap three and held on for the remaining 12 laps, out front and unchallenged, for the big win. Josh is now tied for second place points with three rounds to go.
Josh stopped by the etnies office yesterday to hang out a bit and pick up some new product. Check back for the interview we did tomorrow!

yo, this is what i'm doing this weekend in florida....

Boost Mobile FreestyleMX rides for Cause2ride
The Boost Mobile FreestyleMX.com Tour goes to Florida March 19th for the Cause2ride foundation and to help raise money for Pediatric Stroke Research.
If you are in the Bartow area of FL. (between Orlando and Tampa) on March 19th get yourself to Bartow Cycle Sports for the best dang-diggity freestyle moto show in the world, you know I'm talkin' bout the boys from the Boost Mobile FreestyleMX.com Tour. The boys are going there for some serious business, and when I say serious I mean serious, you see this is going to be a benefit to raise money for children who suffer from strokes. As moto heads you're all pretty familiar with injury, in fact I'm sure most of you clowns have a chart and bed reserved at your local doctors offices, but this is something that you don't have control over, see a stroke is when you have a blood clot in a vein leading to your brain which then starves the brain for blood and thus gives you brain damage and other disabilities, like I said serious business. Most people associate strokes with older people because when your older your veins get clogged with years of abuse, but over 6000 children suffer from strokes every year, and the numbers are growing. When a stroke happens you only have 2-4 hours to stop it, that's about the same time it takes to watch a Supercross, and the messed up part is that it can take doctors anywhere from 12 to 24 hours to diagnose a stroke in a child!!! so basically 'ole father time is against you from the start when this happens, which is why 12% of the children who have strokes will die and 66% will suffer severe brain damage.
Which is where we (you, me, everyone) comes in, you can go to the website www.cause2ride.com and learn more about this tragedy and how to help and make a contribution, then you can get off your arse and haul it to see some sick freestyle. MARCH 19th - BARTOW CYCLE SPORTS is where it's at; 8 a.m. is when the track opens and around 11 a.m. is when the freestyle goes off. So get out there, see some crazy'ole gosh darn maniacs' jumpin' them thar motorcycley-thingys, have some fun and support a truly worthy cause that needs your help, see ya there!!!

Daytona y San Felipe Reporte
Posted by: Cropley | Monday, March 13, 2006
- Una más cerveza por favor.
So, the Daytona Supercross was this weekend, and from what I’ve read on the interweb it was pretty entertaining. TP's backflip to eat-shit after winning a day qualifier (is that really worth flipping about?), TP getting tackled by his bikes through the whoop in his heat race, Bubba wadding himself up while leading the main, Bubba coming from last to sixth had to be cool to watch, Billy Laninovich stepping to the big bikes and placing in the top 10, Josh Grant took second for the second time in two Daytona races....
Did anyone see the Daytona race on Speed Channel the same night? I just happened to be in San Felipe, Mexico for the SCORE San Felipe 250, and myself, Big D and Todd the BBQ master were looking for a good taco stand for dinner. Daytona was the last thing on our minds, but we got lucky and ended up walking into the only taco stand in San Felipe that I know of with a big TV and Speed Channel rocking full blast! The place was off the main strip so we had it to ourselves, the tacos were the best everrrrr, and we got to watch a couple of heat races, including Pastrana dropping the front end in the whoops while battling with Tedesco. Good times, but the Pacifico's, Margaritas and ladies were calling, so we had to cut the TV time short and head to the bar to get loose!

- You see all kinds of crazy sh!t in Mexico.
Speaking of the race in Mexico, the Desert Assassins Trophy Truck didn’t do so well. There were some problems with power steering and a part in the transmission broke within the first 20 miles. Cameron Steele and the team managed to get the truck running again and finished a few hours later.
We also had a bike team racing a Factory Suzuki RM-Z450. The team consisted of six riders, including Cameron Steele, Cole Gress of Suzuki, Michael LaPaglia (WBR Suzuki rider), Grant Steele, Cody Stewart and some random guy who said he wanted to ride a section since Trigger’s flight from Daytona was "canceled" and there was nobody else to ride his section. The 4X bike finished fourth in the Open Pro class.

- Travis Preston was close to his first podium of the year, but not quite.

Daytona Beach, San Felipe & Spring Break!
Posted by: Cropley | Wednesday, March 8, 2006
- Josh Grant almost won in Daytona last year.
Make sure to check out the Daytona Supercross this Friday night. I don’t think there will be a webcast because the Daytona event is not run by the normal Supercross promoter, Live Nation, but have no fear; the race will air the same night, Friday on SPEED Channel at 9:30PM EST.

- Not Cameron's truck rolling.
Also, this weekend is the SCORE San Felipe 250 in San Felipe, Mexico. Trigger Gumm and Cameron Steele will be racing in the Pro Class 22 open motorcycle division against guys like Johnny Campbell and Mouse McCoy. Cameron is also racing in his #16 Desert Assassins Trophy Truck and he will be starting first off the line in the Trophy Truck class.
Chapman is going out to Daytona, and I will be in San Felipe, so look out for some photos and updates next week.
It's Spring Break this weekend, right? Who's going somewhere fun?

Skateboarding, Motivation & Cute Chicks!
Posted by: Brink | Wednesday, March 8, 2006
- Amber loves etnies.com!!!!!!

- Skateboards, etnies and smiles...
As an editor of etnies.com, I have one of the raddest jobs ever. I get to write about skateboarding and all types of other fun, silly, and ridiculous stuff for a living.
But even the most perfect job isn't without criticism. Sometimes I get it without asking! Doesn't that suck? You all know how it is, right? You're just doing your own thing, trying to have fun, be creative and make people smile or laugh and someone comes along and just rains on your parade. Blah!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- Make more lemonade...
But what's that saying...when life gives you lemons, make lemonade? Ya that's it! Turn the negative into something positive! Take the criticism in stride and do something constructive with it!
So in the wake of the aforementioned unsolicited criticism, I was reminded that the super awesome etnies fans from all over the globe really love hot chicks! That's in addition to skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding, BMX and Moto, of course. So let's constructively put more chicks on the site!
Are you down? All in favor, shout it out with a comment!
Furthermore, etnies encourages you to always be yourself. Don't let those who criticize you keep you down or discourage you from doing what you want to do. What do they know anyway? Keep skating, surfing, pedaling, throttling, grinding, sliding, braaaping, pumping, pushing, carving and chasing the ladies. Have fun, stay young, question authority, laugh a lot and enjoi the ride...

Cleveland Rocks! No, Wait... Indy Rocks!
Posted by: Cropley | Monday, March 6, 2006Josh Grant was off to an early lead in the East Lites class race, but was challenged by Millsaps as the two swapped the lead several times, definitely giving the fans their money’s worth. But Grant started pulling away, proving his win in Atlanta was no accident—until a real accident happened. Grant fell while trying to avoid a downed lap rider and handed the lead and the win to Millsaps. He quickly got up and managed second place.
After a first turn crash and getting back up in almost last place, Branden Jesseman charged back to the top ten by lap 4 and finished in seventh place. He now has third place points in the East Lites class series.
As you probably know, Mike LaRocco announced last weekend, at his home race in Indiana, that this SX season would be his last in pro racing and he would be retiring. During practice LaRocco went over the bars and dislocated his wrist, which resulted in him sitting out the big race. But that was not the end of the night for Mike. They did a presentation in front of the crowd announcing his retirement and honoring his racing career with some old racing video (think Oscar montage) and a plaque from the mayor of Indianapolis. Also, Mike was right there behind the starting gate to support his son Ryder who competed in the KTM Jr. Supercross Challenge and finished seventh.
Nick Wey put together another great race this weekend in Indy with a fifth place finish in the Supercross Class. Wey was in second place for almost the whole first half of the race before being passed by Stewart, then he battled with Reedy and Tedesco, but was eventually passed and finished fifth. As a privateer, Wey has not finished outside of the top ten this year, and that is something some factory guys like Carmichael, Tedesco and Stewart cannot claim! Braaapp!

LaRocco Announces Retirement At Indy
Posted by: Cropley | Friday, March 3, 2006With the news of RC’s 25 point penalty before Atlanta last weekend, the whole industry was thrown for a loop as the series favorite was essentially kicked out of the point’s race for no real reason except for an outdated AMA rule. Well, now the AMA has back-peddled after realizing their mistake, and given back RC’s 25 points in exchange for a $20,000 fine. A small price to pay to get back in the championship race and give us fans what we really want—close racing and a championship that can be decided at the final round in V-town.
Not so unexpected news this week was etnies rider Mike LaRocco’s announcement that the 2006 Supercross season will be the last season of his 19-year career. He recently earned his 145th top-five finish, sits second on the all-time podium list with 81 and this weekend he will be racing in his 229th AMA Supercross race, a record that should stand for some time. Saturday Mike will race his last Indy Supercross as his son Ryder races his first under the RCA Dome in the KTM Junior Supercross Challenge, which is held during the intermission at all Amp’d Mobile Supercross races.
LaRocco’s list of career accomplishments is impressive, and almost too long to post in the blog. So, if you get a chance, there is a pretty extensive list of the highlights of his 19 years of racing right here.
Check out the Live Webcast from Indy this weekend, and tune into the next-day TV coverage of the 250 class at 6:00 PM ET on SPEED Channel. Start practicing on the etnies Braap Braap game, who knows, we just might have our own Braap Braap Online Supercross series starting up sometime soon....?
Team LaRocco Racing In Indy
Posted by: Cropley | Thursday, March 2, 2006
- Mike and Ryder take a victory lap at Indy in 2004.
Mike LaRocco and his eight-year-old son Ryder will both race in their respective divisions under the RCA Dome in Indianapolis this weekend. Ryder, a motocross racer just like his dad, will be racing in the three-lap KTM Junior Supercross Challenge, which is held during the intermission at Amp’d Mobile Supercross races. LaRocco won Indianapolis in 2004 and looks for a strong finish this weekend, as does Ryder.
