Josh Grant Wins Atlanta SX!

Posted by: Cropley | Monday, February 27, 2006
Whip!

Josh Grant rode to his first Supercross Lites win this past weekend in Atlanta, GA. In the first part of the race there was some serious bar-bangin' and brake checkin’ going on out front between Grant and Hansen. Hansen ran into Steve Boniface, which caused something to break on his bike, so Grant was out to an early lead. Grant led for the first six laps until Millsaps made a pass and moved out front. But a couple laps later Millsaps made a mistake and Grant had taken back the lead. Grant put it in cruise control and held on for his first Supercross Lites win, which he capped off with a HUGE whip over the checkers for the 70,000 Atlanta fans. Congrats Josh!

Braap-lanta SX

Atlanta in 3D

Here we go again! Another episode of the greatest show on earth (it is to us) this weekend in Atlanta, GA. A monkey wrench got thrown in the spokes of Supercross last weekend with RC’s DNF, Bubba in last place and now Reedy leading the big bike points...craziness! But what about our boy Nick Wey just one spot back from his second podium of the year in St. Louis, and he’s sitting in fifth overall as the top privateer! Hell yeah!

And just as cool was Mike Brown going back to the two-stroke RM250 from the four-stroke and running top five most of the race to finish seventh! If you forgot what a two-stroker sounds like, take a stroll down memory lane with the Braap Braap game...all two-stroke sounds.

Hahn

The Lites West is on a break, and starting last week a fresh batch of East Coast Lites riders are taking to the track. Yamaha of Troy/etnies rider Branden Jesseman started off his season on the right note with a podium finish in St. Louis and some solid momentum going into this weekend. The Sobe/Samsung Mobile/Honda guys were riding well all night. Tommy Hahn was right there in the mix the whole time and ended up in fifth. Josh Grant won his heat race over Millsaps, but he had to pull off after a crash in the main. Look for him to come back strong this Saturday.

Don’t miss the race live on the internet with the Supercross LIVE! Webcast, starting at 7PM EST/4PM PST. Check the next-day coverage, Sunday on SPEED Channel at 4:30PM EST. Here’s an idea while listening to the Webcast – turn off the damn internet porn (perverts!) and check out Braap Braap The Game and burn a few laps online with etnies.

What's Up With Derek Garland?

Posted by: Cropley | Monday, February 20, 2006
Derek at the Mulisha X-Mas party

Derek Garland stopped by the office on Friday to hang out and pick up some new etnies gear. I busted out the digi recorder for a couple minutes and asked the Metal Mulisha / etnies rider some questions….

So, Garland what have you been up to lately?
This past couple months I’ve just been riding a lot, about a month ago I landed my first backflip on dirt so I’ve been super pumped. I’m basically just trying to step up my game for this year. I got the flip now and just working on new combos, so hopefully I’ll be doing good in these contests coming up in the summer time.

Nice. You were just up in Oregon, right? Tell us a little about that.
Yeah, that was cool. Twitch, Faisst, Potter, OX, Homan, myself, all put on a show up in Redmond, OR. It was sick, sold out both nights. I think the venue actually sold out of booze, also. I’ve never heard of that happening before so that was pretty cool. Yeah, that was the first show of the year and so far so good.

What are your plans for the year?
Basically just ride as many shows and as many contests as possible, do as much as I can and just practice a lot, learn some new shit and make some money and have fun. That’s about it.

The imposter pulling babes with Garland's looks.

Around town I’ve been hearing there is a Garland imposter showing up at parties that looks just like you….
[Laughs] I don’t know man, yeah, I go out of town for the weekend and all my buddies are saying “Oh, I saw you at this party last weekend, you looked smashed!” And I was like “What?” I had to double check and make sure I wasn’t really there. Then I saw photos on MySpace of an imposter with my face going around hitting on chicks. [Laughs] I don’t know what’s going on!

90' step up to a Clowers style landing.

So you came up here to pick up some clothes and stuff today, what are you favorite etnies shoes?
Have to go with, definitely, the Metal Mulisha Deegan model, and also I think the Cinch is pretty cool. Yeah, those two.

What were you and Fluffer up to today to bring you up this way?
We actually just ran some laps out at the Elsinore track. Hadn’t been on the bike in a couple days and just wanted to get some good bike time in, and thought we’d stop by to bother you and Chapman and grab some stuff.

Thanks Garland.
Thanks Crap.

Temecula, CA (February 16, 2006) - Brian Deegan will be traveling to Indianapolis, IN this weekend to attend the Dealer Show. While in town on Saturday, February 18, he will be signing autographs and premiering his forthcoming documentary DVD – Disposable Hero.

Features of him have appeared in not only these motocross industry related magazines but in FHM, ESPN the Magazine, DUB and Rolling Stone. Yet at the same time, he’s accumulated more x-rays, pins, rods, plates, casts, gashes, and screws than most Freestyle Motocross riders. To top it all off, he most recently lost a kidney and severely injured his spleen while filming for MTV’s Viva La Bam. Disposable Hero documents Brian’s journey from hospital beds to podium tops!!”

Now This Is Cool....

David Bailey
DB

David Bailey is a true motocross legend. Almost 20 years ago he sustained a riding injury that left him unable to walk; yesterday DB got back on a bike and rode again for the first time since his crash. Ricky James, who also lost the use of his legs to a spinal cord injury, modified his old race bike so it can be ridden without the use of foot controls, instead using a custom seat, frame-mounted nerf bars (incase they fall over), an automatic clutch, lever-operated rear brake, and some foot trays that he can strap his feet into.

I thought this was really cool and inspirational and thought y'all might want to check out these videos of their ride at Lake Elsinore....

San Diego Supercross

Posted by: Cropley | Monday, February 13, 2006

San Diego Supercross went down this past weekend. Nick the RV driver brought out the etnies rig, Chapman brought out the Richardson's RV etnies 5th wheel trailer and someone else brought out a huge grill and BBQ'd up a ton of burgers and dogs for everyone. Good times. Good food.

The racing was also really good with Bubba and RC battling down to the last lap. Mike LaRocco rounded out the top 5 in the Supercross class, right in there behind McGrath. Nick Wey had a little bad luck in his Semi as he got taken out and forced to the LCQ. After winning the LCQ and racing every lap of the night so far, Wey basically went straight to the line for 20 more laps in the main event. He finished the night in 8th place.

Airplane Jump Of Death!!!

Posted by: Cropley | Thursday, February 9, 2006
Almost rollin' it over.

Y’all are going to see it soon enough on TV, but yesterday I drove out to this crazy airplane graveyard, out by Lancaster, CA, with Trigger to watch Seth Enslow film for the TV show “Stunt Junkies” on Discovery Channel, where he would jump over a jumbo jet. Trigger even brought his bike out, hoping to get a photo of him jumping over the airplane to hang on his wall.

Trigger

The whole plan was for Seth to jump over an old broken down jumbo jet first thing in the morning. But we got to the site in the morning and the landing still had a solid hour of building to go before it would be ready. Trigger jumped in a loader to help out course builder Brian Manley, who was in the dozer. But while pushing some dirt, Trigger’s loader almost slid off the side of the landing and rolled over! It took some digging and a chain pull from the loader to get it safely out.

Seth and Trigger started practice at a gap of around 100ft, then pulled it back about 15 to 20 feet at a time until they were jumping about 180’ and there was room enough to fit the 150’ long jumbo jet between the ramp and landing. Once everything was in place, Seth hit the gap and.... What? You didn't actually think I would give it away, did you?!

Keep checking back and I'll keep you posted on the “Stunt Junkies” TV schedule so you can find out what happened!

Ok, so it's not really a "Twitch whip", but it is Twitch whippin' it in Ocotillo Wells for the first FMX Riot event back in 2004. Thought I'd just throw out a random photo from the archives for y'all. Enjoy.
