Slayer!

Posted by: Cropley | Tuesday, January 31, 2006

Today I was organizing the cluster f**% of photos I have cluttering my computer when I came across this Slayer art that someone submitted last year for an etnies art contest. If I was the judge the artist would have won, but I wasn't so it has just been sitting in my computer, not doing anyone any good. So here ya go...you can download the full sized image right here—perfect for wallpaper use. >> Slayer!

Who can name the Slayer album that the image came from? Maybe there is a prize in it for someone....

Twitch Wins Gold!

Posted by: Cropley | Monday, January 30, 2006

Hell yeah! Twitch stomped one of the tricks he's been working on for the past couple months...a huge no-handed backflip to side-saddle lander to take home the Winter X Gold Medal! Congrats Twitch!

More info to come soon, but for now check this video clip of Twitch's winning run.

Winter X Games Coverage

Posted by: Cropley | Friday, January 27, 2006
Sirius babe has "serious" talent.

Winter X Games is this weekend and you have a couple different options to watch/listen to the events live....

First, you can check out most of the final events Live on ESPN or ABC...here is the Live TV schedule.

Also, starting Saturday, Sirius Satellite Radio's Faction channel 28, will provide four full days of coverage of the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado. So, if you purchased Sirius for the Howard Stern show, as did I, this is just an extra bonus.

Take a peek at Todd Potter's new personal web site, todd-potter.com. Pretty much my favorite part is the flaming skull wearing an etnies hat, but the rest of the site is cool, too.

Oh yeah, and ladies...Todd Potter has a MySpace!

Top-Secret Winter X Games Training

Posted by: Cropley | Tuesday, January 24, 2006

Winter X Games 10 is coming up this weekend, and the Mulisha has been in full training mode at the compound for the last couple months. This spy photo was taken of Twitch just last week, but it had to be blurred out do to the super top-secretness of the trick...it's going to blow your mind!

Moto X Best Trick will be Live this Saturday and Sunday night on ESPN, and probably replayed to hell for months after. Take a peek at the Live TV Schedule. Make sure to tune in and make some noise for Deegan and Twitch.

LaRocco and RC bangin' bars on the start. Photo from Racer X

The racing on Saturday night was some of the best racing we’ve seen in a while with RC and Stewart battling it out side-by-side for 18 laps until, that is, Stewart fell and lost the lead to RC and Reed. The sold out crowd was going nuts! Mike LaRocco was right there from the start and put in a solid race. Check the photo with LaRocco bangin’ bars with RC off the start!

The Supercross Lites series is shaping up to be as tight a race as the big bike class. With Langston and Short tied for the lead and Billy Laninovich just three points back after this race, it’s anyone’s game out on the West Coast. Here are some photos and the results. Braapp!

Reedy Spotting At ARCO

Posted by: Cropley | Thursday, January 19, 2006

So I was over at the local ARCO/am pm yesterday, filling up on the cheapest gas in town, when I spotted this cutout of Chad Reed holding an Unbound Energy drink and rocking a big etnies logo on his jersey. Camera phones rule for situations like this. Oh yeah, and there are free posters for grabs.

I will check through the codes and post a picture of your shoes in the blog sometime next week.

Job Site Invitational

Posted by: Cropley | Wednesday, January 11, 2006

The first ever Job Site Invitational was held this past Monday and it was quite an event. One of the things that made this event special was that it's only about a minute drive from the etnies office, but it went on for a while, which made for the longest lunch of all time, everrrr...even longer than the infamous 4 hour, 9 holes of golf lunch break of 2005.

Monster Energy was the main sponsor and they brought out their rig with tons of drinks and even barbequed up some ribs for all involved. The riders judged each other in a 30 minute jam style contest format, with Ronnie Renner taking first followed by Jeremy Lusk and Kyle Loza. etnies own Derek Garland was on hand and was killing the 100 ft. + jumps all day. Watch out for an upcoming show of M80.

Check out this 120' step up sequence of Ronnie Renner.

Anaheim Supercross Results

The Rock, Mike LaRocco
Brownie

Finally, after all the off-season anticipation and hype, the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross season made its debut at Anaheim Stadium. It’s about f’n time ‘cause I was having serious withdraws, and with Howard Stern being off the air for the last couple weeks things have been really rough. Hell, I almost started driving RC cars to stay busy!

Now, with the return of Supercross along with the Web department’s monumental new purchase of a Sirius Satellite radio boom box (for Howard Stern in the mornings!), the stars have aligned and all is now well in the etnies universe.

What’s more is that etnies riders started off the season on a damn good note. Sobe/Samsung Mobile/Honda’s Billy Laninovich landed himself on the podium of the Lites class in third place, while last year’s Arenacross Champion and etnies rider, Darcy Lange, took fifth. In the Supercross class (250 class), Mike LaRocco took a win in Semi 1 and backed it up with a top three start in the main event and rode to a fourth place finish, even holding off the likes of Carmichael for a few laps too.

Did anyone make it out to the race?

Here’s the results, read ‘em and weap. Braaaaappppp!!!

2006: etnies Turns 20!

20 years young...

etnies was born in France in 1986 to meet the footwear needs of skateboarders and that very same passion and commitment to action sports has led to many innovations over the last 20 years. Accomplishments span from creating the first-ever pro model skate shoe, the Natas, to the development of the first and only biomechanics lab that creates technology that enhances rider performance and reduces injuries, the Sole Technology Institute. etnies is driven by action sports and has given back to the action sports community since its inception through building the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest, supporting skateparks all over the world, organizing and hosting contests and supporting the finest amateur and professional team riders.

“It is hard to believe that etnies is already 20 years young,” said Pierre Andre Senizergues, CEO/Owner/Skateboarder for etnies. “As a skateboarder, it is great to see how etnies has been a pioneer and innovator of the action sports community over these two decades."

Stay tuned to etnies.com throughout 2006 for plenty of surprises as we'll be celebrating all year long!

Beaumont Session

132 Laninovich

So-Cal received quite a bit of rain in the last few days, so you know what that means, right? It means that all the Supercross tracks are probably flooded and Deegan's course, I'm sure, has huge rain ruts running down the landings and runways. So there is only one thing that the best riders in the world can do in a tough situation, as such, after it rains—ride the hills! Simon Cudby of RacerX was out at Beaumont with Twitch, Brian Deegan, Josh Hansen, Nate Adams, Nick Wey, Billy Laninovich and more to get the "shot", so head on over to RacerX and check out all the goods.
