How Was Your Holiday Weekend!?

What did you do over the Holiday weekend?

I got new socks, underwear and a Mach3 razor, then I rode the San Clemente Hills (Nofies) on Christmas morning since no cops would be patrolling, or so I thought.... We had to ditch the cop chopper after only an hour of riding.

Ryan Sheckler was also out at Nofies on Christmas morning riding his mini bike with a friend...yeah, skaters can ride too!

CBS Sports One Hour Supercross Preview On Christmas Day

CBS Sports will—for the first time ever—broadcast a one-hour preview show of the Amp'd Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Series' highly anticipated 2005-‘06 season on December 25 at 5:00 p.m. EST/2:00 p.m. PST.

The show will highlight former champion and etnies rider Chad Reed, so don't miss it!

Nor-Cal Road Trip '05!

Some of the etnies crew went on a road trip over the weekend! We started in San Clemente with no clear direction on where we were going. The only clear thing was that the coolers were full of beer and Ketel One, we had a 40’ Richardson's RV and a ...Lost trailer full of bikes, and a bus full of degenerates ready to party and ride dirt bikes for four days.

We knew we wanted to go nor-cal but we weren’t quite sure where. Someone suggested Jeremy Carter’s house. Some of us had been up to Carter’s house in Coarsegold, CA before, but never rode the trails out there. So up to Carter’s it was with the whole San Clemente crew of Trigger Gumm (former/soon-to-be-again world distance record holder), Cameron Steele (TV dork), Big Daddy (Cameron’s Dad/RV driver), Derek Garland (etnies and Metal Mulisha FMX rider), Justin Smith (AKA Bean, etnies Global X rider and Baja1000 champ), Ox (last year’s winter X silver medalist), Fluffer (Mulisha rider/Osiris dork) and Cropley (your etniesmotox.com editor/photo nerd).

We made it about 30 miles out of town and we hit full-blown, dead stop L.A. traffuck! So instead of sitting around and not getting anywhere in a cramped RV, we waited out the traffic in a much friendlier, more scenic environment…the gentlemen’s club! We finally made it out of that dive and we were back on our way with open roads through L.A. and up the Grapevine.

Carter’s house is in the middle of nowhere in the mountains just outside of Yosemite. The weather was a little cold for us up in the mountains as we're used to a constant 70 degrees at sea level in San Clemente. Carter took the crew on a trail ride in the woods of Yosemite and through the tight mountain trails and hill climbs that it has to offer. We rode all day in some of the best dirt and the craziest, most technical trails there is. Everyone agreed that it was one of the best trail rides everrrrr.

After the session in the forest we were planning on driving the Richardson's rig through the night to somewhere (still no plan), but instead we decided to stay another night in Coarsegold and ride Carter’s friend Trimble’s backyard track the next morning. That night we stayed in the RV and parked it in the parking lot of the local Indian reservation casino, which is probably not the best idea for five 21 year olds with ATM cards. I, being the poker master that I am, stole everyone’s money at the 2/4 hold’em table, but proceeded to loose most of it at blackjack. Ox was at least $500 down in less than 20 minutes. But later in the night it seemed like the Indians were just giving the money away like it was an old peace pipe. Ox came back up with over a G, I was out of there with 6 hundred, Bean with a couple hundred and Trigger had at least 5 hundy. Support your local Indian Casino!

The next morning we were greeted with a wake up call from parking lot security which was immediately followed by splitting headaches…but at least we had a little cash in hand for some Advil. We rode Trimble’s track part of the day, which is a pretty technical Supercross/Motocross style outdoor track in his backyard. Again the dirt was really good. We packed up and headed out to San Francisco to rage it for the night, and rage is just what we did!

After the good people at Tres Agaves took care of us with countless pitchers of hand-squeezed, fresh lime margaritas, we hit the town during a full downpour. This one bar, the name slips my mind, was run by some punks and had the best selection of albums in a juke box everrrrr...all old punk rock and metal. A couple gentlemen’s clubs may have been visited, but it’s really actually hard to say for sure.

Trigger, PAB, Garland

Big Daddy had us out of San Fran, about an hour South, and on the way home before anyone even woke up. Someone was even sleeping in the trailer behind the motor home, maybe Garland? About half way home, on California State Highway 46, we stopped at a little known riding spot called Lost Hills for one last session at dusk before heading home. You can just barely see the dirt mounds from the road, but when you get out there there are rolling hills and canyons which now act as a dump site for old cars and garbage for locals. But there are endless possibilities for cliff jumps, big doubles and little hippers. The 45 min. we had to ride there before dark was not nearly enough time to explore the possibilities, but was still a good time.

Now days everyone is so damn busy doing their own thing that it was good to take a weekend off and finally get back to where it started for all of us…going on road trips with your bros, acting like jack asses, farting a whole lot, and riding dirt bikes. I suggest that if you have a chance to ditch work or school, you should go call up your friends, load up the bikes and just start driving. Don't worry about where you end up, you will find good places to ride and you will have the time of your life doing it. Hell yeah!

Deegan and the Metal Mulisha hosted their Christmas party at Jimmy's house over the weekend. With a metal band playing as mood music, everyone sessioned Jimmy's Disneyland for dirt bikes that he likes to call his backyard until sundown. Mulisha babes were on hand in full Ms. Clause get-ups which added greatly to the scenery. The party headed back up to the house and went on well into the night with 5 kegs and tons of food. Wisely, the camera was put away early to protect the innocent.

Congrats to Kevin from Albany NY, for submitting the most blown out etines photo! There were a lot of good entries, some with completely missing toecaps from so much skating, but Kevin was chosen based on pretty much having the gnarliest overall damage to a single pair of etnies we have ever seen. These shoes have done some mileage! Kevin will be flown out to the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest for a weekend of skatin' and hangin' with the etnies team. Golf anyone?

Vancouver World Supercross GP

Saturday night is the second round of the World Supercross rounds. Make sure to listen to the Supercross Live Webcast starting at about 7:00 PM PT/10:00 PM ET. Also on Saturday is the SPEED Channel broadcast of the 125 class race from Toronto at 6:00 PM ET.

Then next-day coverage of the 250 class from Vancouver will be on Sunday night at 6:00 PM ET on SPEED Channel. There's a lot of stuff scheduled for this weekend and I'm confused a little myself, so take a look at the moto calendar to get everything straight so you don't miss it 'cause it's going to be good.

etnies' New Online Video Game

Since our online video games, Downhill Jam and Braap Braap, are such a success we decided to start working on a new type of game for etnies.com. Check out this sample of etnies' new online video game. It's still in the development stages, but we think you will like it a lot. It requires extreme skill and concentration, but the ending is worth it!

Amp'd World Supercross Results

The first round of the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP last Saturday night was one to remember. The top three contenders, Bubba, Carmichael, and Chad Reed were all on hand to see where they stand and work out the bugs for the AMA rounds, which start in January with Anaheim 1. Our boy Reed was on pace as far as some of his lap times, but he couldn’t quite put it together like he would have hoped. With some bike problems to work out Chad just didn’t quite feel at his best. But that’s what these Canadian rounds were for, right? To work out the bugs and come out swinging come Anaheim 1, seeing as the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series Championship is the ultimate goal.

The Amsoil Chaparral Honda team, which has some new sponsors, is now the Sobe Samsung Amsoil Factory Connection Honda team (that's a mouth full). etnies is still proudly on board with the team for ’06 and pumped to let every one know that the team kicked ass over the weekend in Toronto! Billy Laninovich was on the podium followed by a new face to the team, Jake Weimer, in fourth in the Supercross Lites class.

Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP Starts Tomorrow!!!

It's seems like an eternity since we had any good racing news to talk about, but that is no longer the case. The Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP kicks off tomorrow in Toronto where the best rider in the world are ready to battle it out in front of the very lucky Canadian crowd. The world rounds of the Supercross series have shaped up to be as competitive as the AMA rounds, with commitments to ride from heavy hitter's Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart and etnies' Chad Reed it should be good. By the end of the night Saturday we will have a glimpse into how this long, eighteen round season might go.

The Winter X Games athletes were announced today and etnies riders Brian Deegan and Jeremy "Twitch" Stenberg are officially invited! They are pretty much the favorites seeing as Deegan is the defending Winter X gold medalist and Twitch is just off his summer X Games Best Trick gold. It's on!
