etnies Team Happenings
Posted by: Cropley | Monday, July 18, 2005 | 2 commentsThis past weekend was the Unadilla national and Chad Reed wasn’t too happy with his result, even if he was on the podium stylin’ in his Yamaha 50th anniversary yellow retro gear, with a 3-3, third overall performance. The etnies logos were poppin’ on that gear, it looked good.
I was at the chiropractor the other day skimming through the pages of a jock muscle mag when a dirt bike inside caught my eye. After reading on I found that it was a feature article about the training that motocross racers go through to be at the top, and Chad was one of the featured racers. It’s pretty interesting so take a look at the August 2005 issue of Muscle & Fitness.
Mike Brown went 7-5 for sixth overall at Unadilla and still holds on to a 16 point lead in the 125 class. Amsoil Chaparral Honda’s Tommy Hahn and Yamaha of Troy’s Danny Smith rounded out the top ten.
Yamaha of Troy’s Brett Metcalfe finally switched over to the dark side, now riding a YZ250F instead of the YZ125 two-stroke he was flogging around for the first five races of the season. Now with a four-stoke Brett has a real chance at some solid results, but it marks the true end of 125cc two-strokes in pro motocross. :( Unadilla was Brett’s first race on the 250F and hopefully once he gets that beast dialed in we’ll see him mixing it up out in front.
The Metal Mulisha was on Viva La Bam last night. It was pretty damn funny and Deegan and Potter showed plenty of etnies love. Watch MTV as I’m sure there will be endless reruns of the debauchery all week.
Twitch is leaving today for Spain to ride in the Red Bull X Fighters event where there will be no more second places for Twitch, he’s going over there to spank those guys and bring home a first place trophy. Spike TV is running a live video webcast on Thursday, July 21 at 1:30pm PST/4:30pm EST. Make sure to check it out.
The Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix from Laguna Seca was last week and marked the return of Grand Prix racing to the United States. How fitting it was to have an American, etnies' Nicky Hayden, take the win in front of 153,653 US fans. “I can honestly say that this is a dream come true for me,” said Hayden.

- Chad and Briana Banks (porn star!)
The event was filled with tons of A-list celebs, including Brad Pitt, Adrien Brody, Matt LeBlanc, David Alan Grier, Michael Jordan, and porn star Briana Banks to name a few. You think the movie stars are big time? What about Chad Reed was there for Yamaha’s 50th anniversary and had a private helicopter to fly him in and out of the event. Oh yeah, Brad Pitt needed a ride so Chad let him ride in his helicopter, very cool.
