Dog Doodie!
Posted by: Brink | Wednesday, July 27, 2005
- Exhibit B
Very frequently, I walk from one building to another here at the etnies compound for meetings and such. This week, for some odd reason, I've had to evade multiple piles of dog feces while walking around because, contrary to popular belief, I don't like smelling like poop or having any sort of butt mud on my shoes.
After careful investigation and interrogation of many fellow etnies employees, I discovered one mound of poop belongs to Booger, a female mutt owned by ex moto pro-turned X Games announcer, Cameron Steele.

- Booger
Exhibit A shows the debris left behind by Booger, while the origin of Exhibit B has yet to be identified, however, a ruler has been included in the photo for scaling purposes.
What's the significance of all this? nothing really, poop is just funny and its been a slow news day.

Braap Braap Lunch In The Dirt
Posted by: Cropley | Tuesday, July 26, 2005
- Garland

- The infamous Mr. T-St
Unbeknown to us, there has been a freestyle playground on a church property mere minutes from the etnies office and only today, when Derek Garland called up to let me know he, Todd Potter and other Mulisha riders would be filming a top secret Mulisha church assult riding session for FUEL TV, did we find out about it. So the etnies web department piled in Mr. T-St. and made the two minute journey to hang out in the dirt. This is what we do for lunch at etnies!

- Potter

- Garland, Jimmy and Fluffer

- Dr. Poon is right down the street for immediate chiropractic care.

- Chicks dig web nerds (obviously)

Moto Team Report
Posted by: Cropley | Monday, July 25, 2005
- Josh Grant rides to his second podium finish of the season.

- Team USA
Well the United States MX des Nations team was announced this weekend at the Thunder Valley National and it includes Ricky Carmichael, Kevin Windham and etnies’ Mike Brown. Congratulations, that’s a huge honor and we know you’ll make our country proud! Mike went 7-8 for seventh overall on Sunday, coming back from about a twelfth place start to finish seventh in the first moto and had a little banner trouble in the second moto for eighth. Mike is now second in points, only seven behind Ivan Tedesco for the lead.
Chad Reed wasn’t too happy with his 3-3 finish for third overall. “I don’t know what happened to me in the races today,” said Reed. “I didn’t show up.” Third place is pretty damn good for "not showing up" to the races. Check out the practice footy of Reed from TWMX.
Travis Preston went 7-7 for sixth overall, his best finish since the season opener at Hangtown where he got fourth. Travis now sits sixth in the championship points.
Josh Grant on the other hand was quite happy with his 4-5 finish for third overall, his second overall podium finish of the outdoor season. Josh is fourth in points, not too far behind Mike Alessi in third.

- Roger on his way to a close win.
In AMA Supersport Roger Hayden took the win in Mid-Ohio, beating out his brother Tommy Hayden who finished second. Tommy was questionable going into the weekend if he would race after breaking his right hand two weeks ago at Laguna Seca. Tommy is 36 points in front of Roger for the championship, and with only two races to go in the season Tommy is likely to take his second consecutive Supersport title.
Jake Zemke also won last weekend in the Formula Xtreme race.
Nicky Hayden, who won the MotoGP two weeks ago at Laguna Seca, and Tommy and Roger will be appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on NBC, airing August 2, 2005.
Trigger Gumm will be making an appearance at Evel Knievel days in Butte Montana, July 28-30.

- This is for my homies.
Twitch rode like a mad man last Thursday for the Red Bull X-Fighters event in Madrid, Spain and pulled off second place in front of the 23,000 fans in attendance and the many more watching live on the internet. Hell yeah, good job Twitch.
This weekend Cameron Steele and his off-road race team the Desert Assassins will be invading Las Vegas for the SCORE Las Vegas Terrible’s Cup race. This is a 1.5 mile, 8 lap short course race run multiple times over 2 days as opposed to the usual 500 or 1000 miles that they race down Baja. Cameron will be driving three different classes including the 800+hp Desert Assassins Trophy Truck and plans to smash into anyone in his way of the checkered flag. If your in Vegas check 'em out, they're staying at the Golden Nugget.

- Brett is getting more comfortable on his new YZ250F after ditching that old 125 chain saw.

Twitch Takes Second At X-Fighters
Posted by: Cropley | Friday, July 22, 2005Twitch took second place at the Red Bull X-Fighters event in Madrid, Spain close behind Nate Adams. It was cool to see the show as it was happening on the computer, more events should be trying video webcasts (Supercross & Motocross?)… hopefully in the near future. The event was somewhat of a prequel of what we can expect this August 4-7 at the X Games in LA…it should be good.
Check out the X-Fighters site for vids and pix from the event.

etnies Team Happenings
Posted by: Cropley | Monday, July 18, 2005This past weekend was the Unadilla national and Chad Reed wasn’t too happy with his result, even if he was on the podium stylin’ in his Yamaha 50th anniversary yellow retro gear, with a 3-3, third overall performance. The etnies logos were poppin’ on that gear, it looked good.
I was at the chiropractor the other day skimming through the pages of a jock muscle mag when a dirt bike inside caught my eye. After reading on I found that it was a feature article about the training that motocross racers go through to be at the top, and Chad was one of the featured racers. It’s pretty interesting so take a look at the August 2005 issue of Muscle & Fitness.
Mike Brown went 7-5 for sixth overall at Unadilla and still holds on to a 16 point lead in the 125 class. Amsoil Chaparral Honda’s Tommy Hahn and Yamaha of Troy’s Danny Smith rounded out the top ten.
Yamaha of Troy’s Brett Metcalfe finally switched over to the dark side, now riding a YZ250F instead of the YZ125 two-stroke he was flogging around for the first five races of the season. Now with a four-stoke Brett has a real chance at some solid results, but it marks the true end of 125cc two-strokes in pro motocross. :( Unadilla was Brett’s first race on the 250F and hopefully once he gets that beast dialed in we’ll see him mixing it up out in front.
The Metal Mulisha was on Viva La Bam last night. It was pretty damn funny and Deegan and Potter showed plenty of etnies love. Watch MTV as I’m sure there will be endless reruns of the debauchery all week.
Twitch is leaving today for Spain to ride in the Red Bull X Fighters event where there will be no more second places for Twitch, he’s going over there to spank those guys and bring home a first place trophy. Spike TV is running a live video webcast on Thursday, July 21 at 1:30pm PST/4:30pm EST. Make sure to check it out.
The Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix from Laguna Seca was last week and marked the return of Grand Prix racing to the United States. How fitting it was to have an American, etnies' Nicky Hayden, take the win in front of 153,653 US fans. “I can honestly say that this is a dream come true for me,” said Hayden.

- Chad and Briana Banks (porn star!)
The event was filled with tons of A-list celebs, including Brad Pitt, Adrien Brody, Matt LeBlanc, David Alan Grier, Michael Jordan, and porn star Briana Banks to name a few. You think the movie stars are big time? What about Chad Reed was there for Yamaha’s 50th anniversary and had a private helicopter to fly him in and out of the event. Oh yeah, Brad Pitt needed a ride so Chad let him ride in his helicopter, very cool.

Una-f’n-dilla!
Posted by: Cropley | Friday, July 15, 2005After another unbearable week off from outdoor motocross the series is back this weekend to Unadilla! There is possible rain in the forecast so we might see some good ol’ mud racin’, if no rain at least we’ll definitely see some good racin’ on a rough ol’ track. Also, all you nerds should check out the Live Webcast and Live Timing and stay updated with the etnies RSS news feed.
The scenery will be a little different this weekend at Unadilla. “In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the Yamaha Factory Motocross Team’s stable of YZ450Fs will feature the yellow and black retro colors that graced many past Yamaha champion machines.” How sick does that look!

- Chad Reed's retro YZ450F. Dan Dan the Retro Man would be so proud.
Guess Who's Back! Deegan's Back!
Posted by: Cropley | Thursday, July 14, 2005
- Evidence...
After loosing a kidney and almost dying less than two months ago Brian Deegan is already back on his bike riding! He's not just doing wheelies in the back yard either, he’s jumping all the jumps at the compound and doing all his tricks including, the trick that took him out, the backflip! With a fresh step up lip dug into the back of a landing, Brian is now training every day for X Games step up. All this on his second day back riding!
Don't forget to watch Viva La Bam this Sunday night to see how Deegan went down.

- Deegs has his bars heavily padded so he doesn't get another gut buster.

- Brian is in full training mode for the X Games step up comp next month. Watch out MC.
Bam vs. the Mulisha
Posted by: Cropley | Wednesday, July 13, 2005Witness this weekend the absurdity of the Metal Mulisha on MTV’s popular show Viva La Bam as Brian Deegan and several Mulisha members mix it up with Bam Margera and his clan. All we’re at liberty to say is, “this is probably the best ever installment of Viva La Bam,” so says an MTV Producer. The episode airs this Sunday night, July 17, at 9:30 EST on MTV. Did Twitch Get Robbed?
Posted by: Cropley | Monday, July 11, 2005In the freestyle finals of the second Dew tour stop, Twitch had a really clean run which included some flip combos like a flip nac to heel clicker and a flip to side saddle landing over the biggest jump. In the end the judges had Kenny in front by a mere three tenths of a point. To most (except the judges and Kenny) Twitch clearly won, but what do judges know anyway? Nada. The good thing is that there are three more stops on the tour and Twitch will hopefully take a win this August 18-21 on the third stop in Portland Oregon. Check out the video from the show here and click on "Action Viewer".

- 2003 AIR GUITAR WORLD CHAMPION - David “C-Diddy” Jung
The U.S. Air Guitar championships are coming. This is an annual event where these grown men put away their Spock uniforms, Star Wars toys and Dungeons and Dragons dice to make complete fools of themselves yet again.
Here's an excerpt from the "official rules:"
Contestants perform for one minute to a song of their choice and are judged on a combination of technical prowess, stage presence and “airness.” “What we mean by that is really that elusive quality of transcending the imitation of an art form-ie: playing guitar-and creating a new art form-air guitar.”

- Yes, she's a loser.
Red Bud Results
Posted by: Cropley | Tuesday, July 5, 2005In 250 moto one Chad Reed got a great start and was out in front of everyone. A couple laps in Reed, who was still leading, derailed the chain on his factory Yamaha. With the loss of a key component to put power to the dirt, Reed slowed in the corner causing Bubba to run into him and let RC pass. Reed was so frustrated that he abandoned his bike on the side of the track and walked through the crowd back to the pits, unfortunately with a DNF. Reed came back strong in the second moto to get fourth place which put him in tenth for the day.
Mike Brown didn’t get the starts or finishes he was looking for, going 10-4 for seventh overall on the day, but he still holds a solid 24 point lead in the 125 National Championship standings over his nearest competitor. Josh Grant put in a solid ride going 4-6 for fourth place.
The series takes another weekend off and will be back July 17 for the Thrilla in Unadilla.
